Get an SMS when a new lead comes in

Written for someone on a roof or under a sink who won't see a Slack message or an email for hours. In our dataset of 1,145 leads across 9 Australian small-business sites over about 11 weeks, 52.7% of recorded leads were phone clicks, not form submissions, and for the plumbing sites in that same sample it was 98.1%. That's where the phone data belongs.

What this connection does

Every time Lead Recorder logs a new lead, a Zap sends a text to a number you choose, with the name, phone number, and source. No app to open, no notification to swipe away by accident with gloves on.

Setting it up

01

Verify a sender number in Twilio

A real setup step, not optional. Twilio requires a verified number before it will send SMS on your behalf.

02

Open the Zap template and connect both accounts

Use the embed below, or open the template directly on Zapier. Connect Lead Recorder as the trigger and Twilio as the action.

03

Build the message body

Keep it short: name, phone number, source. That's enough to act on from a lock screen.

04

Add a filter if cost matters

SMS costs money per message. A filter on utmMedium (paid channels only, for example) keeps the volume, and the bill, under control.

What catches people out

What catches people out

This costs money per message, and needs a verified sender number. Getting a number verified in Australia is a real setup step, budget time for it. At volume, per-message SMS costs add up fast, which is exactly why a filter on paid-channel leads only is worth setting up rather than texting yourself for every single enquiry.
