Getting started with Lead Recorder
How the Lead Recorder snippet works and what you need to start tracking leads on your website.
Lead Recorder adds a small script to your website that captures where every enquiry, booking, and form submission came from: organic search, paid ads, direct traffic, or referral.
How it works
- 1A visitor lands on your website from Google, a Facebook ad, a referral link, etc.
- 2The snippet captures the traffic source and stores it in the visitor's browser.
- 3The visitor fills out a form, books a call, or makes an enquiry.
- 4You redirect them to a thank you page after submission.
- 5When the thank you page loads, the snippet logs a new lead and its source to your dashboard.
What you need
- A Lead Recorder account (free to start)
- Access to add a script tag to your website
- A thank you page that visitors land on after submitting a form or making a booking
Step 1: Copy your snippet
Log in to your Lead Recorder dashboard, select your site from the left sidebar, and copy your tracking snippet.
<script src="https://leadrecorder.com/api/script/YOUR_KEY" defer></script>
Step 2: Add the snippet to your website
Paste the snippet inside the <head> of every page on your website. See the platform guides in this help centre for WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, and more.
Step 3: Set up a thank you page
Create a dedicated page on your website that visitors land on after submitting a form or completing a booking. Something like yourwebsite.com/thank-you. Then configure your forms to redirect there on submission.
Step 4: Verify it's working
Submit a test form on your website and go through to your thank you page. A new lead should appear in your dashboard within a few seconds.
Tip: No lead showing up? Check that the snippet is on the thank you page and that your form actually redirects to a new URL rather than showing a success message on the same page.
