What is a thank you page and do I need one?
A thank you page isn't needed for on-site forms, but it's how Lead Recorder detects bookings made through an external tool like Calendly.
A thank you page is the page your visitor lands on after booking an appointment through an external tool, or making an enquiry that doesn't happen directly on your site.
Do you actually need one?
Not for on-site forms. The snippet listens for the form's submit event directly, so it logs the lead the moment someone hits submit, whether your form redirects afterward or just shows a success message in place. Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms, WPForms, Typeform, Jotform, and most others all work this way with no extra setup.
A thank you page matters for external booking tools, Calendly, Acuity, or similar, where the actual booking happens on someone else's site. Lead Recorder can't see inside that flow directly, so it watches for the visitor landing back on your thank you page afterward as the signal that a booking happened.
How to create a thank you page
- 1Create a new page on your website, e.g. yourwebsite.com/thank-you.
- 2Add a short message. Something like: Thanks for booking in. We'll see you then.
- 3Install the Lead Recorder snippet on this page. The easiest way is to install it site-wide so it covers every page.
- 4Configure your booking tool to redirect to this URL after a booking is confirmed.
What goes on the thank you page?
Keep it simple: a headline, a short message, maybe a link back to your homepage. The page's main job is to be a URL that only gets visited after a booking is confirmed.
Tip: You can use the same thank you page for multiple booking tools or enquiry types. The traffic source is captured regardless of which one the visitor came from.
