What is a thank you page and why do I need one?
Why a thank you page is required for lead tracking and how to set one up.
A thank you page is the page your visitor lands on after submitting a form, booking an appointment, or making an enquiry. It's how Lead Recorder knows a new lead has come in.
Why it's required
Lead Recorder detects a lead by watching for visitors landing on your thank you page. When someone reaches it, the snippet fires and records the lead along with its traffic source.
Without a redirect, Lead Recorder has no signal that a submission happened. Forms that display a success message without changing the URL won't be tracked.
How to create a thank you page
- 1Create a new page on your website, e.g. yourwebsite.com/thank-you.
- 2Add a short message. Something like: Thanks for getting in touch. We'll be in touch within 24 hours.
- 3Install the Lead Recorder snippet on this page. The easiest way is to install it site-wide so it covers every page.
- 4Configure your form or booking tool to redirect to this URL after submission.
What goes on the thank you page?
Keep it simple: a headline, a short message, maybe a link back to your homepage. The page's main job is to be a URL that only gets visited after a form is submitted.
Tip: You can use the same thank you page for multiple forms. The traffic source is captured regardless of which form the visitor came from.
Multiple thank you pages
If you have different enquiry types (contact form, quote request, newsletter), separate thank you pages let you see which type of lead came in at a glance.
